On Saturday, the NFL club shared an update from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where the 24-year-old has been hospitalized since suffering cardiac arrest during Monday night's game against the Bengals, in Cincinnati.

"Damar continues to make progress but remains in critical condition," the Bills tweeted. He continues to breathe on his own and his neurological functions are excellent.”

The day before, head coach Sean McDermott revealed that Hamlin popped into a team meeting via videoconference. The experience was greatly appreciated by his teammates, who are preparing to face the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Quarterback Josh Allen also said Hamlin's father insisted his son wanted to see his team beat the Pats.

“He asked us, said the pivot. We can not not honor his request to go on the ground and go for it.
