At Attitude Nordique, we have been preparing for the next tourist season for a few weeks.

Visitors have been booking different packages for some time now, says the young company, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. Half of the reservations were made by Quebecers who wish to return to visit the region.

Last year, approximately 96,500 visitors were welcomed to the Duplessis and Manicouagan tourist information offices between May 1 and September 30.

Online searches to book vacations in the region are up 17% from last year, according to Tourisme Côte-Nord. This is an encouraging finding for the next summer season, says general manager Paul Lavoie.

However, the price of gas is a concern for Tourisme Côte-Nord. According to the organization, a round trip by car from Quebec to Kegaska will cost, on average, $180 more than last year. Tourists could therefore decide to stop several days in the same place during their trip to save money.

Moreover, at Parc Nature de Pointe-aux-Outardes, some customers have already canceled their reservations due to fuel costs.

This year, Tourisme Côte-Nord and the region's tourist attractions hope to count on the return of customers from outside Quebec, who have been absent for two years.
