Masterful in the role of Una, Gabrielle Ferron won the prize for female interpretation from the Association québécoise des critiques de théâtre for her enormous performance in the theater play Blackbird. In this documentary, which hit theaters yesterday, director Joannie Lafrenière paints a portrait of Hungarian-born Montreal photographer Gabor Szilasi, who has spent the past 60 years documenting daily life in his new home, the Quebec. Built around meetings and discussions with the 94-year-old humanist artist, the film evokes his journey, from his arrival in Canada in 1957 after fleeing the Hungarian revolution, but also testifies to his vision of photography, life and of old age.
