A cyclist was seriously injured Tuesday after being hit by a car in Chelsea, Outaouais.

It was around 7 p.m. that the authorities received a call about an accident involving a cyclist. A 34-year-old woman was reportedly hit by a car while riding her bicycle on Meech Lake Road, police from the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais said in a press release.

Possibly dazzled by the sun, the 32-year-old driver of the vehicle would not have given way to the victim when she made a left turn.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries that would not be life threatening.

“Traffic was impeded for nearly an hour in this area,” authorities said.
