Daniel Lavoie will be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame by his comrade Jim Corcoran at the 2022 Gala.

The ceremony hosted by Marie-Mai will be held on September 24 at Massey Hall in Toronto.

Daniel Lavoie, 73, is originally from Dunrea, Manitoba, but his work, consisting of 24 albums, radiates throughout the Francophonie. In 50 years of career, he signed several great successes, including the songs "They love each other", "The dance of the smatte", "I left my island", "Tension attention", "The pope of rap" , “Who knows”, “Plain days” and “I would like to see New York”.

Daniel Lavoie, who has received the Félix award for male performer of the year several times at the ADISQ Gala in Quebec, as well as trophies at the Victoires de la Musique in France, has also contributed to the repertoire of other artists, such as Isabelle Boulay, Céline Dion, Luce Dufault, Lara Fabian, Mireille Mathieu, Maurane, Nana Mouskouri, Florent Pagny, Bruno Pelletier and Roch Voisine.

Still active, he will hit the road in 2023 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his album “Tension attention”.

The one who shone in the musical "Notre-Dame de Paris" by Luc Plamondon and Richard Cocciante will be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside Bryan Adams, David Foster, Alanis Morissette and Jim Vallance.

The 2022 Gala will also feature performances by Charlotte Cardin, Corey Hart, Marie-Mai, Pierre Lapointe, Bruno Pelletier, Bobby Bazini, Jessie Reyez, Serena Ryder as well as Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake from Nickelback.
