This is what head coach Jared Bednar told the media during his morning press briefing. Their No. 1 goaltender left the series opener in the second period with an undisclosed upper-body injury. He had conceded three goals on 16 shots before retreating to the locker room.

Since the start of the playoffs, Kuemper has posted a 2.65 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage. The Avalanche won their first game against the Oilers 8-6.
