Deliveroo will cease its activity in the Netherlands on November 30

MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The food delivery company Deliveroo has confirmed that it will end its operations in the Netherlands on November 30, after reaching the conclusion that achieving and maintaining a top-tier market position in the country would require a level of investment "disproportionate".

After completing the consultations on the withdrawal announcement made on August 10, Deliveroo has decided this Wednesday to go ahead with the decision to leave the Dutch market, which represented 1% of the gross value of the multinational's operations in the first semester of 2022.

Following consultation with employees and riders, Deliveroo has determined that achieving and maintaining a top-tier market position in the Netherlands would require a disproportionate level of investment with highly uncertain potential long-term returns.

In this sense, the company has indicated that its decision to end operations in the Netherlands reflects the disciplined approach to continue maximizing the return on the investment of resources while meeting profitability objectives in a difficult economic context.

In this way, the company has indicated that, in the consultations held, appropriate compensation packages have been agreed that will be made available to riders and employees.

Deliveroo decided to leave the Spanish market on November 29, 2021.
