A person was found unresponsive after a fire heavily damaged an apartment building on Wednesday evening in Drummondville, in the Centre-du-Québec region.

The firefighters received the call around 11:20 p.m., according to the Division Chief at the Drummondville Fire Department, Andrew Barr. When they arrived at the scene, firefighters found that smoke was coming from the basement of the four-unit building. A person was found unresponsive in the dwelling, and resuscitation measures were carried out until the arrival of paramedics. The victim was transported to a hospital and his state of health remains unknown. Nearly 25 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, the fire was brought under control approximately 35 minutes later and did not spread to the other dwellings. he apartment in which the fire started was heavily damaged.
