The countries of the European Union have received a notification from the French authorities to inform them of the decision to ban the sale of the iPhone 12 in this country due to its excessive radiation and are now examining the situation before ruling on whether the veto should be extended to the rest of the European Union.

Partner countries now have up to three months to analyze the information received and present objections if they wish, but after that period if no Member State takes a position against the ban, it will be generalized to the entire European Union.

This was indicated this Thursday by the European Commission, which, like the Member States, received a notification from Paris the day before informing that it was prohibiting the marketing of this device because it exceeds the emission limits of radio frequency waves established by the National Agency for Frequencies (ANFR).

According to the community regulations that affect small household appliances in the Internal Market, a Member State has the obligation to inform its partners when it decides to restrict the marketing of one of these products and the rest of the countries have three months to analyze the information and propose or no objections.

In this context, the Secretary of State for Digitalization in Belgium, Mathieu Michel, has also reported that he has given instructions that the risks of the device be reviewed to decide if his country follows in France's footsteps.
