The driver of a van reportedly fled after hitting a 25-year-old woman who died instantly overnight from Thursday to Friday in Brossard, Montérégie.

The young woman was crossing the street at the intersection of Rome Boulevard and Lautrec Street around 4:20 a.m. when the accident occurred, said the Longueuil agglomeration police department.

The driver then fled in the direction of boulevard Taschereau.

Investigators are on the scene to determine the causes and circumstances of this event.

Rome Boulevard is closed northbound on Friday morning for an indefinite period. Motorists are therefore advised to avoid the area.
