An octogenarian suffered burns in a fire that started in the kitchen of a residence in Charlesbourg on Monday evening.
Firefighters were called to East 64th Street shortly after 6 p.m. for a fire in the kitchen of a residence.
The presence of flames was noted, which led the chief to request a 2nd alarm to have additional staff.
Fortunately, the fire was brought under control quickly, in about ten minutes.
The occupants were evacuated from the building built in 1958.
An 81-year-old man was taken to a hospital to treat some burns, but there is no fear for his life. Two other people were taken care of by the Red Cross and relocated to a hotel.
The fire department went to the scene to investigate the causes and circumstances.
