MADRID, 28 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The gross domestic product (GDP) of France registered an expansion of 0.2% in the first three months of 2023, after the stagnation observed in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to the first reading of the data published by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee).

In the first quarter, final domestic demand (excluding inventories) again contributed negatively to French GDP growth (-0.1 points), although less than in the previous quarter (-0.4 points), due to the stability of household consumption, compared to the fall of 1% in the three previous months.

Gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) decreased by 0.2% in the first quarter, after having remained stable between October and December last year.

On the contrary, foreign trade contributed positively to GDP growth (0.6 points), after imports decreased in the first quarter (-0.6%), while exports remained dynamic (1.1% ).
