Laval police are asking for the public's help in locating a man suspected of having tracked down and then stolen several vehicles in 2021.

Arrest warrants have also been issued against the suspect, Kevin Lafontaine, 33 years old.

The man is wanted for a series of breaches of conditions as well as the thefts, in the company of alleged accomplices, of about thirty vehicles with a total value of approximately $2 million.

The targeted vehicles were mainly Jeep Grand Cherokees, Dodge Durangos, Dodge Rams and Ford F series. Mr. Lafontaine, as well as his four accomplices, would have installed GPS trackers on the vehicles in order to be able to steal them later.

“[They] showed up in different shopping center parking lots and targeted cars where they installed beacons in order to then follow them in their movements,” the Service de police de la Ville de Laval (SPVL) said in a press release. .

According to the information gathered during the investigation, at least six thefts were allegedly committed in Laval, but several others took place in other cities in Quebec and Ontario.

Kevin Lafontaine is 1.70 m (5 ft 7 in) tall and weighs 90 kg (200 lb). He is a white man with brown hair and blue eyes. He speaks in French.
