600,000 free Media Distance subscriptions have been reached, in the first two months of the measure implemented by the Government

Renfe users can now purchase free Media Distancia subscriptions through the website www.renfe.com. In this way, the acquisition of this type of pass is streamlined, equating it to the process of purchasing the rest of the Medium Distance, High Speed, AVE and Long Distance passes.

This purchase opening is available for subscriptions from all geographical areas, except for the Regional services of Catalonia, which will be implemented in the near future, the company has reported.

With this new operation, Renfe states that it offers its customers "a more agile, fast service, with no time limits and with greater availability of information on the bonus for rail transport".

Since this Government measure was launched last September, two million free multi-trip tickets have been issued, of which 600,000 subscriptions (29%) correspond to Medium Distance journeys.

To acquire the Conventional Medium Distance pass, customers must first register on the Renfe website or app. Once registered, although it is free, it is necessary to deposit a deposit of 20 euros. Payment by card will allow the refund of the deposit to be made automatically (once the validity period has ended) in compliance with the conditions of the payment, that is, making at least 16 journeys in these four months.
