Gaspé: research interrupted to locate the missing fisherman

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has put an end to its field research at the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula after six unsuccessful days to locate the fisherman who has been missing since December 30.

The extensive search operation was suspended late Wednesday afternoon.

According to Sergeant Claude Doiron, information officer at the SQ, the investigation remains active and the police will not hesitate to return to the scene if new information is sent to them.

“Until then, we are still asking residents to keep an eye out and let us know of any unusual sightings along the coast,” added Mr. Doiron.

The missing man in his sixties, whose identity has not been released by the police, never returned home after a shellfish fishing trip in the Cap-des-Rosiers sector of Gaspé, the December 30 last.
