Germany's exports totaled 126.5 billion euros last September, which represents a decrease of 2.4% compared to the previous month, in which Germany's foreign sales fell by half (-1.2 %), according to figures published this Friday by Destatis, the Federal Statistics Office.

For their part, German imports also fell in September compared to the previous month, with a monthly decrease of 1.7%, to 110,000 million.

Compared to September 2022, Germany's exports decreased by 7.5%, while imports decreased by 16.6%.

In September, German exports to the EU totaled 69.8 billion euros, 2.1% less than in August, including 48.8 billion euros destined for eurozone countries, 2.4% less.

Regarding imports from EU countries, the figure reached 58.7 billion euros in September, 2.6% less, with a monthly decrease of 3.8% in purchases from the eurozone, to 38,900 millions.

Exports of goods to non-EU countries amounted to 56.7 billion euros in September, while imports from these countries totaled 51.3 billion, which represents a drop of 2.8% in exports to third countries and 0.6% in the case of imports.

The main destination for German exports in September was the United States, with 12.8 billion euros, 4% less than in August, ahead of the 7.7 billion sold to China, 7.3% less, while exports to the United Kingdom United Kingdom rose 2.3% to 6.3 billion euros.

The majority of German imports in September came from China, with a value of 13 billion euros, which represented a decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous month. Imports from the United States increased by 0.5%, to 7.7 billion, and purchases from the United Kingdom rose by 5.2%, to 3.2 billion euros.
