A man with no criminal record robbed a convenience store overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday before reporting himself to the police a few hours after his crime.

The Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) was alerted around midnight to a break and enter at a convenience store on King Street West, near Richmond Street.

Thanks to surveillance cameras, the police found that the 54-year-old man stole cash, a few packs of cigarettes and four microbrewery beers of around $100.

The damage caused to the business by this burglary is estimated at $1,500, said the Sherbrooke police.

The 50-year-old finally showed up on his own at the police station around 4 a.m. to confess to his crime, it was added.

Released, he will appear at a later date to face charges of break and enter and theft.
