In 2020, his father sponsored his then 19-year-old son to get a gun owner ID card according to TMZ reports.
This card is necessary to then want to buy a semi-automatic rifle.
However, in 2019, Robert Crimo had threatened to kill his family.
His parents then decided not to press charges against their son, a decision that could have prevented the authorities from selling him a weapon.
