Quebecers are encouraged to make their first blood and plasma donation in June as part of Héma-Québec's “3 in 1” challenge.

On Thursday, the organization asked for the public's help to collect 1,400 additional donations in order to replenish the blood and plasma banks.

Since last April, the organization has recorded a drop in traffic at mobile blood drives and at Blood and Plasma Donor Centres. A record number of appointments were also canceled during this same period.

However, it is imperative to compensate for these lost donations, since the health of many Quebecers during the summer season depends on it.

It's the perfect time for people who have already thought about donating blood to take action, especially during the "3 in 1" challenge, which started on Wednesday and runs until July 1.

"When we know that a single blood donation makes it possible to obtain 3 different blood products that can be transfused to as many people, we realize the scope and importance of donating blood," said Héma-Québec in a press release. .
