Canada had to admit defeat by a score of 4 to 3 in overtime against Finland in the final of the World Hockey Championship, and must therefore settle for the silver medal.

The squad led by Claude Julien came from a two-goal deficit late in the game, but were unable to finish the job in overtime. CH player Joel Armia distinguished himself by scoring the third goal for the Finns.
