Hoffman (GSMA) sees the public-private collaboration of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) as "very successful"

BARCELONA, Nov. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The CEO of the GSMA, John Hoffman, has applauded the public-private collaboration for the Mobile World Congress (MWC) and has claimed that without it it would not have been possible to set the celebration of the Mobile Telephony Congress in Barcelona until at least 2030: " It has been a very successful formula."

In an interview in 'El Periódico' this Thursday collected by Europa Press, he said that the negotiation of the new agreement was very short and he predicted that "as long as both parties see value in continuity" the MWC will continue in Barcelona beyond the 2030, when it can be automatically renewed every year.

Along these lines, Hoffman has maintained that the GSMA will work "more" with Fira de Barcelona to promote new projects and that --literally-- they will rely more on their partners to promote initiatives that they previously did alone.

He explained that with the creation of the Mobile World Capital Barcelona foundation they were "just a client" for Barcelona and that the organization constitutes a year-round commitment to the city.

"When they come to the fair from outside Spain, they don't say they are going to Mobile or the MWC but to Barcelona," he stressed, and described the reputation and brand of the Catalan capital as strong.

The CEO of the GSMA has predicted that industries other than mobile will gain weight at the MWC and has pointed to the entry of the education, transport, financial and manufacturing sectors: "Everyone needs intelligent activity."
