Iberdrola shoots up its client portfolio of the regulated gas market in the last month

MADRID, 2 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Iberdrola, through its last-resort marketer Curenergía, has seen its client portfolio in the regulated gas market skyrocket in the last month, going from the 111,000 contracts it had at the beginning of September to more than 180,000 in recent days, according to they indicated to Europa Press in company sources.

The Government has launched a package of measures to lower the gas bill, with a shield of 3,000 million euros to continue to limit by law the increases that can be applied to the 1.5 million customers of the regulated gas rate during throughout 2023 and also the creation of a new type of rate that will halve the bill of 1.7 million homes that have central heating in their neighborhood community.

In the gas market in Spain, there are two types of tariffs, the free tariff -each company offers a personalized offer- and the regulated tariff, better known as TUR -Tarifa de Último Recurso-. The latter can accommodate customers with a consumption of less than 50,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year and community boilers, since the recent creation by the Government of the so-called TUR 4.

The sharp rise in the price of gas in the last year, which has increased by more than 200% in the last 12 months, has thus led customers to decide to switch to the regulated rate in an avalanche, which is limited by the Government .

There are four large companies required to market regulated rates (TUR) for natural gas: Naturgy, Endesa, Iberdrola and Totalenergies.

The Iberdrola group's retailer of last resort, Curenergía, has different routes to facilitate access for customers. In person, the client can go to any of the almost 600 service points of the group that it has distributed throughout the Spanish geography.

If the user wants to carry out the procedure remotely, the group has the Curenergía customer service telephone number, 900 100 309. This telephone number is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. On the contrary, if the client prefers to do it 'online', it is enough to carry out the procedures on the website www.curenergia.es or through the mobile application. Another way to contact Curenergía is by post or email.

Likewise, with regard to the electric social bonus, Iberdrola is the company that most people choose to guarantee them the rate of last resort. Of the total contracts of this type that the Spanish signed with the different companies, the Basque electricity company has signed 47%, compared to a 32% market share in the regulated electricity rate.
