Passengers waiting for a flight at Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, were awakened from their torpor on Friday when pornographic videos suddenly appeared on advertising screens.

News of the hack quickly spread on social media, with photos taken by travelers showing images of explicit sex on screens.

"Looks like a lot of people missed their flight today," one netizen joked.

“Welcome to Santos Dumont Aeroporn,” tweeted another.

The public company Infraero, which manages the airport, explained that the hacking concerned advertising screens, and not screens showing flight information, which are the responsibility of another company.

"Infraero has taken appropriate action and filed a complaint with the federal police," the company said in a statement.

"The screens in question will remain off until the company responsible can guarantee their safety," she said.

While most internet users found the incident funny, others were shocked.

“What disrespect! Imagine people traveling with children?” one of them complained.
