MADRID, 14 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Inditex will launch its second-hand fashion business with Zara in other of its main markets in 2023 after testing it in the United Kingdom last November, the group's CEO, Óscar García Maceiras, announced this Wednesday.

Although it has not specified the countries in which it will land with this service, through the 'Zara Pre-Owned' platform, Spain, Italy, Germany or France are some of the company's main markets.

Specifically, Inditex landed in the second-hand fashion business with Zara through said platform, which was launched in the United Kingdom on November 3, with the aim of repairing, reselling and donating already used garments.

"This new platform is one more action that is part of Inditex's sustainability approach and its commitment to moving towards a circular economy model, which covers all phases of its activity, from product design to store management. as well as manufacturing, logistics and company offices," the company said at the time.

In this way, the group founded by Amancio Ortega offers the opportunity to repair, resell or donate second-hand Zara garments through the 'Zara Pre-Owned' platform, available in stores, on the web and in the mobile application.

Through this "pioneering" platform, according to the company, customers can make "more sustainable" decisions in relation to their used clothing.

Specifically, with the repair service, Zara customers will be able to request alterations to any used Zara garment from any season, ranging from replacing buttons and zippers to repairing seams.

The customer can carry out the process entirely 'online' or in the Zara store of their choice. Likewise, 'Zara Pre-Owned' also offers its customers in the United Kingdom the opportunity to resell their Zara items through a secure platform.

On the other hand, García Maceiras has highlighted the growth opportunities that Inditex has and has expressed his "full confidence" in the model, at the same time that he has underlined the evolution of the company in the United States.

"In the United States, the big factor in 2022 has been the strong recovery in traffic and sales in physical stores. We are very happy with our result in the Americas and the United States is already our second largest market. We continue to see strong growth opportunities there ", has underlined.

Regarding the case of China, the CEO of Inditex has highlighted that this year has been "challenging" due to the restrictions in the country during the nine months, but the company continues to have "absolute confidence" about its opportunities there in the medium and long term. "The demand for fashion continues to be strong in China and, for sure, it will continue to be a strategic market for Inditex", he added.

On the other hand, Inditex will inaugurate a new Zara 'megastore' in Campos Elíseos (Paris) in the first half of next year, an establishment similar to that of Plaza de España (Madrid) and Battersea (London).

"They are the type of projects that we are focused on now," García Maceiras underlined.

The new Zara in Paris, which will have a surface area of 3,600 square metres, will feature the latest innovations in this store model, including concept areas for lingerie, shoes and accessories, Zara Home, an online order silo, Store mode and a complete digital experience.

This new Zara 'superstore' located on the Champs Elysees will be the third of the group of these characteristics after inaugurating on October 14 the one in Battersea (London) and the one located in Plaza de España (Madrid), the largest in the world, with more than 7,700 square meters, open since April, shortly after Marta Ortega assumed the presidency of the group.
