The company will announce in the coming days the location chosen for its factory and Valladolid is among the candidates

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has signed a collaboration protocol with the Slovak company InoBat Auto to promote the implementation in Spain of its next battery 'mega-factory', for which an investment of 3,000 million euros is planned and the creation of around 2,000 indirect jobs, as reported on Monday by the portfolio led by Reyes Maroto in a statement.
InoBat Auto is a company specializing in battery research, development, manufacturing and recycling with the long-term goal of providing new energy solutions to global markets and is currently considering different locations for its new battery factory, including them Spain, specifically, Valladolid, as detailed by Industry.
In this sense, Valladolid has been selected as a candidate to house the plant "thanks to the extraordinary position it holds in the sector and its unbeatable geostrategic location".
In Maroto's opinion, "this agreement facilitates the arrival of new investments linked to the manufacture of batteries that are necessary to move towards a new electric and connected mobility".
Likewise, he has emphasized that the choice of Valladolid within the possible locations selected by InoBat Auto "represents a firm commitment" to Spain as a 'hub' for electromobility in Europe.
The agreement signed affects the collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the Slovak company for advice and financial support that help promote industrial investments in the field of batteries, promote industrial development, strengthen competitiveness industry and increase industrial capacities in Spain, the Ministry has detailed.
"The signing of the protocol (...) is the last step, together with the signing of similar protocols with both the Valladolid City Council and the Castilla y León Regional Government before, in the coming days, the Slovak company gives know your decision and communicate the location chosen for the implementation of your new mega-factory in Europe", added Industry.
The signing of the protocol with the Slovak firm comes after the arrival of the Anglo-Indian multinational Switch Mobility in Valladolid, where it will manufacture electric buses.
Thus, the Ministry of Industry has stressed that InoBat would strengthen one of the "largest clusters" of the Spanish automotive industry in Castilla y León, with the presence of car and truck manufacturers such as Renault, Iveco and Nissan and an "excellent network of suppliers" with Gestamp, Grupo Antolin, Faurecia, Ficosa or Michelin.
