The American Hockey League (AHL) farm club made the announcement on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the 18-year-old forward's season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (LHJMQ) ended. .

At the end of last March, the Canadiens awarded Roy a three-year entry contract. This agreement will begin in 2022-2023.
