A body was found in the rubble of a chalet that was destroyed by a violent fire on Wednesday morning, in La Tuque, Mauricie.

A little before 8 a.m., citizens contacted the emergency services to advise them that a fire was in progress in the chalet.

The fire completely destroyed the building and the occupant of the premises was missing. During the search, the body of a person was found in the rubble. According to the Sûreté du Québec, everything suggests that it is the remains of the occupant of the premises, who lived there alone.

An investigation has been opened to establish the cause and circumstances of this tragic event.
