Lachine: a good Samaritan throws himself into the St. Lawrence River to save someone

A Good Samaritan in his twenties threw himself into the St. Lawrence River at the risk of his life to rescue the driver of a car that had fallen into the water during the night from Friday to Saturday.

A first call was received at 911 shortly before midnight, for a vehicle which, according to initial information from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), had fallen into the water by the boat ramp from Parc Saint- Louis, in Lachine.

Seeing the vehicle in the water, the young Samaritan dived to save the driver of the vehicle. The latter was transported to a hospital, but his state of health is unknown to the police. As for the young man, he was treated on the spot for injuries related to hypothermia, but his life would not be in danger.

The crime scene was protected by a security perimeter to allow investigators to better understand the sequence of events.
