This is indeed what Jorge Fernandez, father and coach of the Quebecer, told the TSN network.

Recall that Fernandez recently left the Roland-Garros tournament in pain after a match lost in three sets of 6-2, 6-7 (3) and 6-3 against the Italian Martina Trevisan in the quarter-finals.

“It is very difficult for me to find positive aspects now because I wanted to reach the semi-final, had then conceded Fernandez, quoted by Le Journal de Québec. I'm going to think about it for a few days, look at what I've done, see what I've done well, and build on that to get to the top as quickly as possible."

Already, the 19-year-old Quebecer imagined that something was wrong with her foot. She had already felt pain, in the third round in Paris, when defeating Belinda Bencic.

Fernandez, who is ranked 18th in the world, is now reportedly targeting an early August return for the Washington Open. She could then take part in the Rogers Cup, the women's section of which will be presented in Toronto this year, from August 6 to 14. The United States International, where the Quebecer reached the grand final in 2021, must also take place from August 29.
