The Montreal Canadiens started their day on Friday by selecting Ontario forward Owen Beck in the second round, 33rd overall, at the Bell Center. In 62nd place, the Habs then opted for pocket-sized defender Lane Hutson.

These two choices are in addition to the two Slovak players obtained in the first round on Thursday, forwards Juraj Slafkovsky and Filip Mesar.

Beck, 18, played with the Mississauga Steelheads last season of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He had 51 points, including 21 goals, in 68 games.
