The Ibex Technical Advisory Committee has agreed to incorporate Logista into the Ibex 35 to replace PharmaMar, a change that will take effect on December 19, as reported in a statement.
The committee has made this decision at its meeting today following the technical standards for the composition and calculation of the Ibex indices and strategy on shares, which take into account the volume of trading in euros in the order market during the six months prior to the meeting (control period) and aspects such as the number of operations contracted or possible changes in the shareholding, in order to guarantee the quality of said volume.
Likewise, only securities with an average capitalization greater than 0.30% of the average capitalization of the selective during the control period can form part of the Ibex 35. Technical standards establish different coefficients to be applied to the average capitalization of each security to penalize those with less free float.
Logista, which will enter the Ibex 35 with a coefficient of 80%, started as a favorite among analysts to replace PharmaMar, since the distributor met both the capitalization and trading volume requirements in the calculation period, while the pharmaceutical company it did not have the necessary capitalization and was behind Logista in terms of trading volume.
In addition, the Technical Advisory Committee has agreed to modify the coefficient, due to changes in captive capital, of CaixaBank, which goes from 80% to 100%, and of Rovi, which goes from 80% to 60%. The individual weighting of the securities will be adjusted to meet the 20% limit.
This modification of the CaixaBank coefficient also affects the Ibex 35 Banks index. In this case, the Technical Advisory Committee indicates that the individual weighting of the securities will be adjusted to comply with the 40% limit.
These modifications will enter into force as of December 19, 2022. The adjustment of the Ibex 35 and Ibex 35 Bank indices will be made at the close of the session on December 16.
Likewise, the committee has communicated that the next follow-up meeting will take place on March 7, 2023.
OPA ON SIEMENS GAMESA
These changes have the character of definitive composition, unless the manager has to make some adjustment as a consequence of financial operations communicated after this announcement.
In this regard, it should be noted that the Technical Advisory Committee announced just a few weeks ago that it will exclude Siemens Gamesa from the Ibex 35 due to the voluntary takeover bid (OPA) of shares made by Siemens Energy, its main shareholder. The index adjustment will be made at the close of the session tomorrow, December 13, the scheduled end date of the OPA acceptance period.
Once the result of the offer has been officially published, the committee will meet on an extraordinary basis in December to decide whether or not to re-include Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy in the index, with the new applicable coefficient, if any. or replacement by another value.
