To do this, through a proprietary measurement tool developed by Mapfre's asset manager (Mapfre Asset Management), the total annual emissions generated by the assets are calculated. In this way, the company identifies the risks and opportunities that its investments may entail in relation to the sustainable development of the business, with the aim of guaranteeing a proposal for low-carbon products and services.
With this, Mapfre advances in quality and reporting capacity of the calculation of the carbon footprint, for which the current regulation, despite having established certain specific indications, still encounters various challenges to define the calculation of assets, such as fixed income government, financial sector assets, private companies, derivative products or funds, among others.
