The new Medicom factory, dedicated to the manufacture of surgical masks and respirators, will see the light of day in the Innoparc Albatros located in Saint-Eustache, in the Laurentians.

An agreement has therefore been reached with the City for the sale of three lots in the business park, at the level of the alley du Golf. The company will invest nearly $40 million in this project, which will create nearly 30 jobs.

This initiative will increase local procurement to provide personal protective equipment to frontline healthcare workers and avoid being in the same situation as at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic context has acutely reminded us of the need to be able to easily access specialized equipment in times of crisis,” said the president of the Economic Development Commission and municipal councilor, Patrice Paquette.

Ottawa announced in 2021 funding of nearly $30 million for this project.

“With this new facility in Saint-Eustache, we are promoting Canadian solutions and ensuring that front-line healthcare workers have a reliable supply of personal protective equipment, in addition to creating good jobs in the region", commented the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry of Canada, François-Philippe Champagne.

The plant will also be powered by hydroelectricity and will have a waste reduction plan in place. The company is also committed to replanting more than 40 trees and creating a garden for bees and butterflies.
