The 45-year-old man has been missing since noon Wednesday when he went hiking. At the time of his disappearance, Stéphane Bouchard was wearing Bermuda shorts, a light-colored sweater, a shoulder bag and a cap. He is 1.79m tall.

On Friday, a Saguenay police team was combing the Chemin Raymond area in Canton-Tremblay while other teams were on the ground in Saint-Honoré. The police were carrying out the search using mountain bikes and walkers and a dog handler were also present.

“He can be anywhere in this big wooded area and along this wayward river. [...] Vigilance to those who live in this area, who have four wheels or mountain bikes,” implored the mother of the deceased, Russel-Aurore Bouchard, a recognized writer and historian from Saguenay–Lac-Saint- Jeans.

The Sûreté du Québec contacted the rescue organization 02, which specializes in nautical and forest searches, to help find Stéphane Bouchard. The team arrived on the scene Friday afternoon.
