Montero highlights that "Spain picks up cruising speed in European funds" after requesting the third payment

MADRID, 12 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Finance and Public Administration, María Jesús Montero, highlighted that "Spain is reaching cruising speed in the execution of European funds" after the formal request for the third payment of the 'Next Generation EU' by the Government, which involves the disbursement of a total of 6,000 million euros.

On her Twitter account, the minister explained that the monthly calls "come out at a rate of 2,000 million euros" and stated that the Government has authorized "almost 80% of the resources already budgeted".

"Our economy and our labor market are responding firmly to crises, such as the energy crisis, thanks in part to the deployment we are making of the Recovery funds," Montero claimed on his Twitter account.

In addition, he has promised that the Government "will continue as before", that is, "working together with autonomous communities and local entities to achieve the transformation of the productive model that the country needs".

For his part, the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, has described the request for the third disbursement of European funds as "extraordinary news".

"The resilience of the Spanish economy in such a complex international environment cannot be dissociated from the structural transformations that accompany the achievement of the milestones of the Recovery Plan," he added on Twitter.

The amount of this third disbursement corresponds to the fulfillment of 29 milestones and objectives --23 milestones and six objectives-- that have been fulfilled throughout the first half of 2022.

The satisfactory evaluation of compliance with this package of milestones and objectives will entail the disbursement of 6,000 million euros, which would be added to the 31,036 million euros already received, of which 9,036 million euros were received as pre-financing and 22,000 million euros corresponding to the first and second disbursements.
