A teacher at Adélard-Desrosiers elementary school in Montreal North faces serious charges, including sexual assault on an 11-year-old girl.

Dominic Blanchette, 27, was arrested and faces six counts, including sexual assault.

The alleged facts allegedly took place between December 24, 2021 and May 27, 2022.

He is also charged with luring, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and possession of child pornography.

The Center de services scolaire de la Pointe-de-l'Île (CSSPI) declined our request for an on-camera interview, but provided a written statement.

“The CSSPI takes the situation very seriously. The teacher in question was suspended as soon as we were informed of the complaint lodged against him. At the same time, a team of professionals, including several psychologists and a sexologist, has been mobilized and is currently at the school to support our students and staff members.

Education Minister Jean-François Roberge also commented on the case.

“The facts reported are serious and totally unacceptable. The CSS suspended the individual. I asked for the revocation of the certificate of this teacher. We confirm that psychological help is offered to students and teachers,” he said on Twitter.

The accused was released on several conditions. He cannot work or volunteer near children under the age of 16.

He cannot go to parks, swimming pools or public places where children gather.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) fears that the suspect may have caused other victims.
