Motorcyclist dead in hit-and-run crash in Seminole County

A 22-year-old Altamonte Springs man died Friday night in Seminole County after an unknown vehicle ran him over on State Road 436, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Cody Dunavin was driving his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on State Road 436 near Forest Lake Academy about 10:45 p.m., FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Dunavin suddenly lost control of his motorcycle and struck a curb, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. This caused him to be thrown from his bike and into the westbound lanes of State Road 436.

He was lying in the road when an unknown vehicle ran him over. The driver is unknown and fled the scene after the incident, Montes said.

First responders arrived, and the medical examiner pronounced Dunavin dead at the scene of the crash, Montes said.

It was unknown whether he was wearing a helmet, Montes said.

Troopers do not have a description of the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213, or report tips anonymously to Crimeline at 407-423-8477

The crash remains under investigation, Montes said.
