New Cinema Festival: "Falcon Lake" by Charlotte Le Bon at the opening

Charlotte Le Bon's first film, Falcon Lake, will kick off the 51st edition of the Festival du nouveau cinema (FNC) on October 5, just days before its official Canadian theatrical release.

The film crew should at the same time be present at the Imperial Cinema to launch the festivities.

Premiered during the 54th Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival, Falcon Lake stars Sara Montpetit, Karine Gonthier-Hyndman, Monia Chokri and French actor Joseph Engel.

Adapted from the graphic novel A Sister by Bastien Vivès, the feature film tells the story of Bastien, ready to overcome his worst fears to exist in the eyes of his sister Chloé, when summer becomes a troubling pivotal moment for the young boy. Despite the three years that separate them, a singular connection is established between them.

Falcon Lake will be in theaters on October 14, while the 51st edition of the Festival du nouveau cinema will take place in Montreal from October 5 to 16, 2022.

The full FNC lineup will be revealed on September 20.
