A man lost his life Monday afternoon after colliding with a heavy truck in Notre-Dame-du-Laus, in the Laurentians.
The accident occurred on Route 309 around 3:30 p.m. A southbound pick-up truck reportedly veered out of its lane before crashing into a stalled sand truck in the northbound shoulder lane.
The driver of the pickup, a 38-year-old man from Gatineau, was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
SQ investigators went to the scene to understand the circumstances surrounding this event.
"Traffic on Route 309 alternates until the lane is cleared," said Mr. Tremblay.
