Other major work to come in Sherbrooke

The City of Sherbrooke announced on Tuesday morning that Portland Boulevard will undergo a facelift between the Highway 410 overpass and Lionel-Groulx Boulevard.

Boulevard de Portland is one of the busiest arteries in the city, with approximately 30,000 vehicles passing through it every day in the Carrefour de l'Estrie area.

In order to limit the impact on traffic and for merchants, the paving work will take place in the evening and at night, from Sunday 6 p.m. to Friday 6 a.m. for approximately three weeks, an exceptional measure. At least one lane in each direction will remain open to traffic during the work. Users are still invited to avoid the area and take King Street West during this period.

No changes are planned for public transit users.

Work on Prospect Street

Another construction site will also cause major obstacles in Sherbrooke. As of Thursday, rue Prospect will be completely closed between rue Bouchette and rue Jacques-Cartier.

Car traffic will be permitted in the evening and during the weekend. The work should last a week. A detour is planned via Beckett and Duvernay streets.

Regarding the construction site at the corners of rue Belvédère and rue Galt Ouest, work is progressing smoothly. The City hopes that everything will be finished for the construction holidays, in the next two to three weeks.
