A 17-year-old teenager was shot and wounded in Montreal North, on the night of Monday to Tuesday.

Police were alerted by a 911 call to a shooting that erupted around 12:15 a.m. on Matte Avenue near Pascal Street.

On the spot, the police located the victim injured in the upper and lower body, but she was conscious.

The young man was transported to a hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening, according to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

Casings were found on the ground and bullet holes located on a vehicle parked nearby.

According to initial information, the victim was in the street when shots were fired at him from a vehicle, said Caroline Chèvrefils of the SPVM.

The shooting would be linked to a conflict with circumstances that are still unclear, according to the spokesperson for the Montreal police.

The scene has been protected for investigators and forensic identification technicians who will have to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this shooting.

Witnesses were met by the police, while the canine unit was requested on the spot to help in the search for clues, it was added.

As a reminder, on July 8, a 24-year-old man, known to police circles, had been the target of gunfire in the same area, the scene of several shootings in recent times.
