More than 70 artisans from across the province will set up shop at Espace 400e, in the Old Port of Quebec, to show off their know-how and also stimulate the local economy, especially after more than two difficult years.

More than ever, the craftsmen are eager to find the public, while good or bad, the event attracts around 175,000 people for two weeks.

“It’s a world of living, consuming crafts. I think it's a local, sustainable, eco-responsible alternative, following a two-year absence. Of a pandemic which made us ask many questions about the future, our future”, underlines from the outset, Marc Douesnard, president of the board of directors of the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec (CMAQ), also blacksmith.

For this big comeback, several new items are on the menu for this great summer gathering. In particular, there will be the activity “Plein Art exploded”, two circuits carried out by the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec. They will aim to make you discover the place occupied by craftsmen and craftsmen in the "ecosystem" of the city.

A relaxation area on the edge of the water, tastings of local products and 5@8 evenings with Monsieur Cocktail are also added to the program of the event.

Marie-Josée Asselin, vice-president of the executive committee of the City of Quebec, welcomed the return of the event, also referring to the two years of questioning experienced by artisans and the population in general.

“We find this importance of consuming close to home, of knowing where the product we buy comes from. We feel this change in the culture and the desire we have to speak with the person who offers us these things, ”she argues.

It is the actor Christian Bégin who fulfills the role of spokesperson for the event for a fourth year.
