Dominic Blanchette had already been charged last spring. The teacher was already facing six counts including sexual assault on an 11-year-old girl.

The charges against the suspect last May took place between December 24, 2021 and May 27, 2022.

He is also charged with possession of child pornography, sharing sexually explicit material and invitation to sexual touching.

“After the first file, there was an appeal launched by the [Service de police de la Ville de Montréal]. Subsequently, there was a second file in which there were 16 charges related to a total of five victims, “explained the Crown prosecutor, Me Annabelle Sheppard.

The Center de services scolaire de la Pointe-de-l'Île (CSSPI) had quickly suspended the teacher when the first charges were brought against him.

Dominic Blanchette will return to court on August 31 for his investigation into his release. His mother is expected to testify that day.
