“Banning abortion does not stop abortions. Women have always found ways to interrupt their pregnancy, ”recalls Jessica Legault, co-coordinator of the Quebec Federation of Birth Planning, which is demonstrating in Montreal.

In 1962, 57,000 Canadian women were hospitalized for self-abortion with hooks.

“The anti-choice movement is increasingly visible in Quebec. It is believed that with the overturning [of Roe v. Wade], it will give legitimacy to propose actions and to misinform people in connection with the interruptions of pregnancy”, reacted Sylvie Pedneault, director of SOS pregnancy, in Quebec.
