The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (LHJMQ) has announced its three finalists for the Paul-Dumont Trophy, awarded to the personality of the year.

Gatineau Olympiques goaltender Ève Gascon is among the nominees, as is Quebec Remparts forward Nathan Gaucher and Sherbrooke Phoenix forward Joshua Roy.

The distinction is given to an athlete who has had a positive media impact and who has contributed to improving the image of the circuit during the past season.

Gascon, a 19-year-old hockey player, played two games with the Olympiques in 2021-2022. She is the third woman to have played in the QMJHL.

For his part, Gaucher was the Remparts' third best scorer with 57 points in 66 games. He is one of the best hopes in Quebec for the next draft of the National League.

Roy is the leader of the Pheonix and a prospect for the Montreal Canadiens. He has just had a fantastic season with 51 successes and 68 assists for 119 points. He thus completed the campaign in first place in the Courteau circuit scoring charts.

The finalists for the Raymond-Lagacé trophy revealed

Earlier in the day, the QMJHL revealed the identity of the defensive rookies in the running for the Raymond-Lagacé trophy.

They are Nathan Darveau, of the Victoriaville Tigres, Niks Fenenko, of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, and David Spacek, of the Phoenix.

Darveau was playing his first full season at the age of 19 in front of the nets of the Courteau circuit. While he was 14-18-2 in 37 games with a rebuilding team, he boasted a 3.11 goals-against-average and .917 save percentage.

Fenenko, meanwhile, crossed the Atlantic Ocean to join the Drakkar this season after being the very first selection in the QMJHL European Draft in 2021. The 17-year-old Latvian defenseman has totaled six goals and 40 points in 62 games.

Spacek, ultimately, led all first-year defensemen with 12 goals and 50 points in 57 games. The son of former Montreal Canadiens Jaroslav Spacek showed a differential of 21.
