MADRID, 25 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, assured this Tuesday, in the press conference after the Council of Ministers, that the Government continues to work so that the Housing Law "see the light before the end of the year" .

On February 1, the Council of Ministers approved the referral to the Cortes, for parliamentary processing by the urgent procedure, of the Bill for the Right to Housing, and it is still in the process of studying amendments.

The head of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) is confident that the law will be approved this year and for this the Government continues "negotiating and working with the different parliamentary groups."

Sánchez has pointed out that "more than 400 amendments" of the more than 800 that were presented have been transacted. "There is much more progress that we have made than what remains to be resolved," the minister explained.

The amendments already studied have served to improve "issues with various areas of the Housing Law", such as the competence frameworks of the State and the autonomous communities, because the objective of the Government is to be "scrupulous in complying with the competences in this matter" .

Other measures related to habitability, efficiency, strengthening situations of vulnerability or the clarification of competences such as urban and land legislation have also been incorporated.

"There are pending issues but I want to insist that we maintain the negotiating activity and before the end of the year we can approve the Law", said Sánchez at the press conference.

On the other hand, the Government included the limitation of the rise in rental prices in its package of measures to deal with the impact of the war in Ukraine. That 2% cap on income will be in force until December and the Executive will then study whether to extend it.

"We are very aware of the inflation context. If the conditions persist, when the time comes, obviously, we will maintain that measure. It is still subject to analysis," Sánchez advanced.

The minister recalled that this has not been the Government's only decision on housing, since the youth rental aid bonus, other measures of the State Housing Plan and specific decisions for the most vulnerable groups have also been approved.

"We are a sensitive government and in terms of housing we are not going to spare any effort," Sánchez guaranteed.
