A police operation took place on Tuesday on the shores of Lac-Saint-Jean to find human remains.

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) teams have been deployed to Métabetchouan-Lac-à-la-Croix in Lac-Saint-Jean.

It is that, for the second time in a few days, human bones were found, Monday afternoon, in this sector by citizens.

Last week, a passerby contacted the authorities after seeing a boot, lying on the ground, in which there were bones.

The two finds were about a kilometer apart.

The Sûreté du Québec has confirmed that a foot and the lower part of a body have been found. Women's clothing was also found.

Tuesday morning, the SQ set in motion research in order to comb through the sector.

Nautical and land patrol boats as well as walkers took part in the operation.

The human remains were sent to the Montreal forensic laboratory for analysis.
