MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Third Vice President and Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, has asked the electricity marketers to avoid "irrespective and obstructive behavior" when it comes to facilitating the social bonus to families that meet the requirements and has stated that the Government will monitor it " close up".

"This must be closely watched, because we do not want irresponsible behavior or obstructionist behavior on the part of these companies, which makes it difficult to access these benefits," Ribera said in statements to Telecinco collected by Europa Press.

The minister has urged families that can benefit from the social bonus to go to the marketers, because "it is not something that the Government manages", although "it is pending". "It is the marketers, the companies that sell them electricity, that have the obligation to explain well and facilitate", Ribera stressed.

In this sense, he explained that the objective of the Executive is to expand the total of subsidized electricity, increase the endowment and broaden the base of families that can benefit from discounts.

Also, Ribera has ensured that, despite the scenario of uncertainty at European level, Spain has guaranteed gas supply and supply.

"What we are seeing is a very significant drop in the price of electricity as a result of a very significant drop in the price of natural gas, because we have full gas stores, so full that they have to be emptied slightly because otherwise they cannot get more ships and we cannot receive this important gas for the winter", he pointed out.

Ribera has insisted that Spain is "in good condition" and that it does not have supply problems, which does not mean that it is aware of what is happening with the price and adopts measures so that said price does not directly affect the country.

"Today we are in good condition, we want the winter to be bearable and to better anticipate and regulate the guarantee of gas supply for the entire continent, but we also know that, depending on the evolution of the price in other EU Member States, it can end up affecting us," he said.

In this context, Ribera has stressed that the Executive is carrying out a strategic analysis of the situation. "We cannot think that we live in a bubble isolated from the world, that is why we need an energy security plan", she pointed out.

Regarding the reduction for community heating bills, the minister explained that the Government is working with property administrators to disclose information on the conditions to benefit from the reduction.

Ribera explained the reasons why the Government requests the installation of individual meters in homeowners' associations: "Individual meters are important because they help us understand where we can save and improve our behaviour. For example, on the second floor they are hot and open the windows wide, instead of closing the radiators. That the one on the fifth, who is on vacation or has gone to live for four months in another place, has not closed the radiators and You're overpaying."

"If we have individual accountants, we improve the behavior of each one of us and the behavior of the whole," the minister stated.

"We provide opportunities to be more efficient and intelligent in our consumption, but we need to have the instruments to be able to do so and that is why our meter is so important," explained Ribera, who also argued about the request to empty the radiators, which is better to do it in summer.

"Now is not the best time to hire this service by the communities of owners, so they must commit to do it before September 30, there is almost a year ahead," he said.
