The Michigan team turned to the utility player due to a neck injury to outfielder Robbie Grossman.

Kody Clemens would become the first child of the seven-time Cy-Young Trophy winner to reach the major leagues. His three older brothers, Koby, Kory and Kacy, all played in high-level circuits, never reaching the best baseball league in the world.

Drafted in the third round of the 2018 auction, Kody Clemens played 142 games in two seasons with the Toledo Mud Hens, at the AAA level. The left-handed hitter hit 26 homers and stole seven bases, playing at second and third base as well as outfield.
