Route 138 will be completely closed for 12 hours, from Boischatel to Beaupré, to ensure the safety of Pope Francis during his visit to the basilica on July 28.

At a press conference this morning, spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport Émilie Lord unveiled the road obstructions for this special day.
“July 28 between 3 a.m. and 3 p.m. We are talking about the complete closure of Route 138 between Boischatel and Beaupré [...] These obstacles force us to make a bypass, but the bypass will be accessible only to light vehicles.
This means that heavy trucks, recreational vehicles, buses and other similar vehicles will have to wait for the end of the obstruction or go through the Saguenay if they want to reach the North Shore or Charlevoix.
The MTQ has entered into communication with the transport companies so that they can provide a plan B.
All citizens and merchants who find themselves in the security perimeter and who will be affected by this temporary closure have also been met by the Sûreté du Québec.
